Elida Benavides

Elida Benavides, 77, peacefully left us on March 11, 2020.  She was born on 1943 in Laredo, TX; the third of eleven children born to Eloy and Sara Martinez.

She spent much of her childhood traveling to work the migrant fields with her family.  She worked as a nurse in Abilene and San Antonio.  She later worked for many years as a bilingual teachers’ aide for Goose Creek ISD in Baytown.  Her favorite pastimes were being with family and friends, going to the casinos, and playing Lotería.

Elida is survived by her husband, Hermenegildo Benavides; her sons, Frank Moreno and Ivan Benavides; her daughter Veronica Maciel (Tony); her grandchildren, Alyssa, Jacob, Ivanna, Isaalyah, Jesus; her siblings, Rosa, Belda (Manuel), Armando, Jorge (Anna); many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Eloy and Sara Martinez; her son, Isaac Benavides; her siblings, Eloy, Sara, Ana, Jose Luis, Alonzo, and Maria Eugenia.

She has a wonderful family and an amazing group of friends.  Her immediate family would like to thank everyone that was a part of her life for always being there for her and for making her so happy.  She loved you all very much.
