“What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments,
but what is woven into the lives of others.”
Our beloved Amy Marie Garcia died on Friday, October 9, 2020. While her death was unexpected, Amy long suffered from substance abuse, and for years we feared her addiction or lifestyle choices would claim her life. And unfortunately, it did but not in the form of an overdose.
Amy was born on June 13, 1986, in Houston, Texas to Maricela Garcia & Ascencion Garcia Jr.
It truly is impossible to capture a person in an obituary and especially someone whose adult life was largely defined by addiction. To some Amy was just an addict, and to others she was a “Diamond” as Grandma put it. Amy had a good heart, but she had been fighting her demons for several years and could not find herself with the short amount of time she was given here on Earth. She was very much loved despite not feeling it. We loved our Daughter, Grand Daughter, Sister, Cousin, Mother, & Friend.
We are fortunate that Amy lives on in her babies. Xavier Alford, Aimee Marie Borrego, Lorenzo Cash Borrego, Isaac Aidan Borrego, Ace Benjamin Matthew Borrego, & Juan Sandoval. We get a little piece of Heaven on Earth every day.
Recently for a month I know she was sober; I think she gave my mom one last gift before she left us. If you could see the joy in my mom’s eyes you would know. But her addiction stalked her and stole her from us just like that. We would give anything to have her back, this disease would not let her go until she was gone.
Amy is survived by her children: Xavier Alford, Aimee Marie Borrego, Lorenzo Cash Borrego, Isaac Aidan Borrego, Ace Benjamin Matthew Borrego, Juan Sandoval, Mother: Maricela Garcia, Siblings: Rosalinda Borrego, Roxanna Garza, Ascencion Garcia III, Jesus Garcia, Adam Garcia, Aunt Maggie Narvaez, Uncles Raul Narvaez, Roel Narvaez Cousins: Ashley Narvaez, Jessica Alford, Crystal Narvaez, Erick Narvaez, Monique Narvaez & Grandmother Elma Narvaez. You will be missed, until we meet again my little Mimi.
